Wow! It's been over a year since I last blogged about something. It's kinda because I forget about this thing sometimes and I also have nothing to say or can't seem to say it right, so therefore I don't say it at all! But I thought I might as well update a bit since it's been so long.
Life has been better, significantly I would say, this year. I just feel like I've finally made a complete turnaround for myself since the year started. Like, all of a sudden I had this desire to do stuff that I've been putting off for a while now. Such as going back to college, working out (even though that's been put aside for now....but I'll get back into it soon enough!), and just being more open to things I guess. Maybe it's the fact that I'm 22 now and it's seeming more and more old of an age every time I think about it, or because I feel like I'm falling behind and need to start my fucking life already! Whatever brought it on, I'm glad.
Guitar is going quite well. I'm getting more into acoustic again, like when I first started playing years ago. I'm actually thinking about finally doing an open mic night. Just need to get some songs together, practice the hell out of them, and do it! I'm still working on the singing while playing...let's just say, it's fucking hard. It's like I have to strum at every time that I sing something. Whatever words that are coming out of my mouth, I have to strum. Why can't it just be automatic for me? Sing. Play guitar. Sing. Play guitar. I'm working on it! Maybe I'll post a vid on floo-tube soon...
Floo-tube (nice little segue there ;) I had to do it) is a reference to A Very Potter Musical, which is something I am currently -unhealthily- obsessed with. It's an amazingly hilarious musical parody of Harry Potter that everyone should watch. If not all the way through, at least watch the first two bits which give you an idea of how totally awesome it truly is:
/end HP obsessiveness
Concerts haven't been as frequent. Although I did go to Summerfest this year and more times than I cared to. Saw Rodrigo Y Gabriela again finally! It's been 3 years since I'd last seen them and it was 3 years too long. They are absolutely amazing live and I love their music! They put on such a great show and I'm so looking forward to their new album! Also, went to see Paramore and No Doubt, which was a completely out of the blue, last minute thing. My sister and I really wanted to go, but we didn't know if there were tickets available and she didn't know if she really wanted to go. I was just planning on going to Summerfest that day to see if they had any seats available and if they did I would buy them. Then the day before my sister calls to say she bought some tickets and got amazing seats and asked if I wanted the second ticket. I couldn't pass it up of course. So we went and it was awesome! Such a great show put on by No Doubt. Paramore was great too; I'd seen them last year at Summerfest at one of the free stages, and they were good. It was nice seeing them again. Also looking forward to their new album.
Speaking of which, there's so much new music this year I can't keep up! It's like everyone decided, "hey, new album 2009? Yes." Dream Theater, Dredg, Alexisonfire, Thursday, The Sleeping, The Devil Wears Prada, The Mars Volta, Imogen Heap, Deftones (hopefully :( ), Chevelle, The Decemberists, Killswitch, The Roots, Muse, Taking Back Sunday, Mae (who by the way are like releasing a song every month which all together will be an album by the end of the year). It's insane, and there's more I can't remember or don't even know about and won't know until it comes out. I think I'm caught up at the moment, but there's always new shit that I'll hear and want so..it's a never-ending thing with me.
Going back to concerts, Nine Inch Nails in Chicago at the end of August. I've convinced my boss that we should go cuz he's a super NIN fan, and I'd like to see them before I can't. I'm also thinking about the blink-182 concert...*shrugs*
And...college this fall. I'm excited. Much more excited than the last time I went four years ago, mainly because I'm sure I'll be more focused on my studies than worrying about old friends... I'll be going for IT which I think I could do. I'm not a super smart computer person, but I'm sure I could become one. I chose IT because I love computers and I -think- it's a good area for money...Do that for a while, save up money, and go to a four year college out of state or maybe out of the country. I've really grown on the idea of taking a bunch of college courses, getting degrees in different things, mainly for music or acting. I've always been interested in it and it's always been something I've wanted to do for as long as I can remember. Forgive me, I'm a dreamer! I've really just been like literally mind-blown after watching that HP Musical. I used to love my choir classes, performing in concerts for school, and doing that one play in 6th grade (Oliver btw) was a blast. When I got to high school it was all over. I know it had to do with my friends' influence and my scariness of being a newbie surrounded by all these much more talented people and because the new choir teacher sucked balls. Regardless, it's something I've regretted not sticking with. I'm hoping to change all that soon enough. I'm ready to "start my life."
PS Twitter is addicting... >.>
Tonight I went to see Liquid Tension Experiment, which is a side project from some of the members of Dream Theater (Mike Portnoy the drummer, John Petrucci the guitarist :D, and Jordan Rudess the keybordist) and also features Tony Levin of King Crimson as the bassist. Anywho, they're doing their 10 year reunion tour and I wanted to definitely see them play. So my dad and I went, got there a little late [ =( ], but got to see a couple good songs that I wanted to hear for sure live. Then, while they were playing I could tell there was something wrong with JR's keyboard, cuz there were some off notes, and sure enough right when the song ended, he got up and told Mike what was up and had to figure out what was wrong. So Mike, John, and Tony started to jam for a good hour while Jordan was still trying to see if they could fix the problem, but there was no luck. The jam was fucking awesome, first of all, JP is always a pleasure to see live, fucking amazing. Same goes for Mike, love it. And seeing Tony live for the first time was just as great, and my dad liked it too. Then, after that hour of calling Roland trying to fix the problem with JR's keyboard, he just came out, walked up to John and asked for his guitar! He's a fucking good guitar player! I was amazed, though I guess I shouldn't have been seeing how great he is on the keys. But the whole place was going nuts, it was fucking awesome! Then after Jordan took John's guitar, John went over to Tony to take his bass. At which time Tony brought out his Chapman stick to play. Then! If all of that wasn't enough, Mike came out to play the bass, while another guy came up to play the drums, can't remember his name but he was fucking awesome.
It was overall an amazing show and I'm hoping I can find some video of it somewhere... They had to end it shortly after that hour and half jam session, so I didn't hear some songs I really wanted to (Paradigm Shift and When the Water Breaks!), but it was still an amazing show and I'm glad I made it down there when I did! Fucking Chicago traffic and construction. Die. I wanted to blow people up so much, or wished that I had Magneto's powers so I could lift the many cars off the road and outta mah way.
LTE 4 lyfe! w0t.
Ok an edit: the drummer that came up when Mike was on bass was Charlie Benante of Anthrax. I just can't believe that I actually got to witness all of that. I always just read about stuff like that, but being apart of it all was fucking awesome.
Hideo. Kojima. Is. God.
MGS4 = Ultimate Win
I never thought I'd say this, but it's better than the first. It is the best. Not just of the series, but I'm saying: best. game. ever. I haven't been this excited from playing a game in a long time, seriously not since the first MGS. So two thumbs up, 5 stars, 100% great game. I may be over exaggerating a little bit, but it's my opinion, seriously awesome and my new all time favorite game.
What compliment are you most often given?
A direct quote, just ask one of my co-workers: " Girl, you got some pretty-ass-eyes." I get that a lot at work, and they seriously say that exact phrase, which is really weird. But ever since I was little I could remember people telling me that they liked my eyes.
Ok, so 2007 was a relatively bad year. Some parts were good, concerts galore, games, movies, TV, HP...The rest, meh. I got held up at gunpoint at work, which basically traumatized me and now I'm extremely paranoid wherever I go. Basically Milwaukee is the most dangerous place to exist because everyone here seems to have some kind of crazy disease in which they have to kill someone every day, so don't ever live here or think of visiting cuz it sucks.
And! On a somewhat lighter yet sad note: They cancelled Veronica Mars! Oh. My. God. In the words of VM: What the frak? Seriously? I just got my sister and brother-in-law to like this show too from watching the DVDs. Which leads me to believe that everyone loves/ can love this show because it's that good...It's too bad, this is the video they should have shown on television to promote it and get more viewers. Who knows, maybe they did and people just suck.
Wouldn't you watch this show? :(
Anyway, it was an awesome 3 years. And now Kristen Bell is on Heroes, which is awesome cuz that show is awesome and she's awesome so yeah.
Juno is the best movie ever. Soundtrack's awesome too. Go see it.

Mery Chrismas everyone! yay!
What's the best late-night TV talk show?
Jimmy Kimmel, hands down! My sister and I got to see one of his shows when we were in LA a couple years ago and they have "Clap you bastards" for applause and "Shut the fuck up" for quiet. Hilarious. And his monologues are always funny. I can't watch that show and not laugh.
Do you own all the albums of any particular musical artist or group? Who?
